Diana and I just got back from the 2019 San Diego Festival of Arts held in Waterfront Park. We decided to go to the festival sort of at the last minute and we’re glad we did. It was a terrific show, we got to hang with lots of friends, made many new friends and also got to put our ukuleles in front of a Southern California audience. We received a very good response, particularly to our short-scale “California” bass and our micro-scale “Persistence” bass.
The show was a more general art show and not ukulele specific, but we fit right in among all the other vendors and we got to talk to a lot of people. It was a long haul to get down to San Diego but it was a beautiful drive down the length of California after such a wet winter. The greenery was fantastic.
After the Reno show in May and now this show in June, we’ll be focusing on more semi-hollow ukes and also more short- and micro-scale basses. (Right after we finish a special 5-string, that is.) We got some great feedback on the basses and we are definitely found that we are going in a positive direction on their design. The Reno and San Diego shows have really invigorated us and we’re feeling our center again. Good friends and chillin’ with the ohana can do that for you I suppose.
