Lots of progress, not many posts. Isn’t that how it always goes? When it’s busy in the shop it’s always hard to take pictures and write. Well here we catch up a bit. The two tenors are now in final sanding and will start getting their finishes tomorrow!
- The blue tape is where the fretboards will be trimmed. you can see the fret slots have been cut.
- Radiused fretboard blanks in Cocobolo showing dramatic differences in color and grain. These have been planed for thickness and slotted.
- MATANUSKA – in final sanding and nearly ready for finishing and painting. It’s hard to believe the soundboard will be a rich red/brown. It’s amazing to lay down the first coat of finish.
- “ED” – Ed is ready for the finish shop… that golden blonde curly maple is going to sparkle!
If these guys are done by next uke club meeting you should bring one in!
If I have one ready I will definitely bring it in.
I like what you have done using the forward piece of the finger board as a nut holder. GREAT IDEA, Will be using your idea on mine from now on. THANKS
Ha Ha it sometimes amazes me how closely you look at these pictures. Of course I do the same thing. Yes I’ve gone to a slot for the nut. That way I can use a minimum of glue to hold ti in place so I can change and adjust it easily. Plus I like the way it looks and feels. I’m also looking at using a zero fret. I played an ukulele over the weekend with a zero fret and I really like the idea of it
A zero fret?
