Cebollo is a somewhat surf-inspired tenor starting it’s way through the shop. He’ll have a rich, darker palette with boldly mineral stained sides and back and a lovely Redwood soundboard. Today we were working on ribs, backs and soundboards so Cebollo got a terrific start.

We found this richly stained piece of Poplar today. It looks like flowing water. We re-sawed it, planed it and sanded it and it's now ready for the bender.
Next we bend the Poplar ribs. Smile when you play that!™
WOW again… Poplar is so beautiful and easy to work with. You need to try Walnut, it works as easy and looks great. You will have to let me know where you get your wood.
Yeah this is a pretty piece of Poplar. I should try Walnut, it would give me a dark alternative for bodies. I get my wood wherever I can. Hardwood stores, backyards, old furniture, even home improvement stores. I’ve always got my eyes peeled for wood and non-wood as well for that matter.
