Cebollo is a somewhat surf-inspired tenor starting it’s way through the shop. He’ll have a rich, darker palette with boldly mineral stained sides and back and a lovely Redwood soundboard. Today we were working on ribs, backs and soundboards so Cebollo got a terrific start.

mineral stained poplar ribs for tenor ukulele

We found this richly stained piece of Poplar today. It looks like flowing water. We re-sawed it, planed it and sanded it and it's now ready for the bender.

Poplar back board has bold mineral streaking and resembles the front end of a surfboard.

Quartersawn redwood. Reminds me of the old surfboards Duke Kahanamoku rode.

Next we bend the Poplar ribs. Smile when you play that!™
