Ukulele “Roni” is named for American film star and pinup, Veronica Lake. As such, we’ve gone all blonde on her wood, with Birdseye Maple on her sides and Curly Maple front and back. Even her neck will be executed in sleek quartersawn Maple.
We’re moving along nicely on Roni and have completed her body and roughed out her neck.
Ukulele Roni has a semi-shallow body. Not as thin as a “travel” ukulele but thinner than a standard ukulele body. She is about 2″ deep at the neck joint. Here she is shown with her kerfing and blocks in place.
Roni’s neck is pale quartersawn Maple. Suggesting the long blonde tresses of the 1940s pinup.
Next we’ll be doing the final prep on her Curly Maple sound board and back in anticipation of attaching her neck.
